Wireless is Wired Trouble

Netgear WG111This little 54 Mbps thumb-sized wireless card is a little wanting. The concept of plugging in a wireless card and being on the internet is a good one. But custom install drivers and dropped connections riddle this fun little toy. If you thought that you would just push the wireless USB card in and have it perform, you will be sadly mistaken. Also, if you use any encryption scheme on your wireless network, a tactic that I strongly encourage that you do, then a dropped connection and device gets very annoying. …Not only do you have to reseat the device, but you also have to re-enter the encryption information. This is a good idea that is half-baked.

Thanks for the review! I was considering getting one of these and so now I’ll widen my search! I’m also interested in a USB BlueTooth adapter for my Mac and PC so that I can use my BT cell phone with either one. Got any experience there?

BTW: Nice site! I’ll have it bookmarked from mine now!
