HD Recording Media

High Capacity HDHitachi came out with a 500GB hard drive that is fast, as far as hard drives go. It utilizes the new SATA II interface that has an optimum transfer rate of 3 gb/sec. If you don’t have a board with a SATA II interface, the drive is backward compatible with SATA I. And, if you don’t have SATA at all, you can purchase an ATA version. But these units are expensive, as is usually the case on new, huge drives. Have an extra $500 laying around? …Which makes me think of the 120GB WD drive I bought 4 months ago for $40. You do the math.

Ah, mail-in rebates, I am assuming? Then I guess $40 is doable.

I’d buy the 120GB. I only have 20 now and 500 sounds a little over the top.

    Still, who knows…
