You are looking at the world’s first e-ink watch. This was a joint venture between Seiko and E-ink. The display is a low power consumption display with twice the contrast of an LCD display. The watch will be available in Japan in 2006. The E-ink technology has been a long time coming, but has recently been fueled by capital investment from Intel. Microsoft is also seeing the value of this new technology. The promotional display that is shown here can run continuously for six months on two AA batteries. The display flashes from dark to brilliant light. This revolutionary media will enable many new PDA’s, watches, computer screens, etc. …It’s low power consumption is ideal for these types of devices. Smart phones, coupled with this type of display and improved speech-recognition, could bring true hyper-function devices to market. They could allow you to do remote networking, voice (from anywhere!), high speed data transfer, video conferencing, etc. with much better battery life.

Awesome. I’ve heard of E-ink before, but I never thought I’d see an E-ink watch. Guess I’ll need to watch for this!
