WiMax

WimaxWith little fanfair, Intel pushed the new WiMax chip into production last week. Code-named Rosedale, the new wireless 5116 chip will operate in three bands: 2.5, 3.5, and 5.8 GHZ. It promises to deliver broadband data communications, along with voice, several miles from a delivery station. Though development is still under way for the technology in portable applications, it’s just a matter of time before people can be walking in semi-remote locations and streaming broadband content. Is that a good thing?
