oled displayAnother promising display technology is oled. Oled delivers superior high definition images with a lot of added benefits. While typical lcd displays use liquid crystal, hence lc display, oled uses organic light emitting diodes. These diodes emit red, blue, green, or white light. What makes oled so impressive is that it needs no backlighting. The contrast and luminance on these screens allows for remarkable vibrancy. Also, unlike conventional CRT’s, there are no chemical shutters to open and close, so response is incredibly fast. They are like a bunch of little light bulbs going on and off. …Viewing can take place from almost any angle, unlike lcd displays. LCD displays can produce 262,000 colors and oled displays can reproduce 16 million. These displays use low power consumption and are 1/3 the thickness of conventional lcd displays. But oled displays cost 1.5 times more than conventional lcd and suffer from lower life length. Once they iron those problems out, you will start seeing oled in much larger displays, like computer monitors and tv’s.

[…] Emagin this: playing Halo with all your friends with a full field of vision svga 3d display with stereo sound. Emagin is producing oled displays that are mounted near the eyeball and use a magnifying glass to duplicate a full field of vision display. The SVGA 3D active matrix OLED provides a complete integrated analog interface microdisplay solution with built-in stereovision compatibility. The native SVGA format (800 x 600) makes it ideally suited for PC applications from gaming to professional CAD to medical diagnostic. The circuit is readily compatible with stereovision sources that rely on a single R,G,B channel and a left/right frame indicator. Features: […]
