Fujitsu has come out with an interesting biometric device. Instead of reading fingerprints or the retina, the Contactless Palm Vein Authentication System reads the vein structure in your palm. The technology uses infrared light to scan hemoglobin in the blood. Hemoglobin absorbs infrared light and so it shows up in black. The image clearly shows the vein structure of a scanned hand. Fujitsu has been working on the project for two years. Engineers struggled to make allowances for the constantly changing shape and size of the veins.
