Google LogoGoogle, Goldman Sachs, and Hearst Media have provided a cash infusion in Current Communications, a Broadband over PowerLine(BPL) developer. This undoubtedly shows the hands of these powerhouses. Google wants a stake in an optional broadband technology. And while many folks are decrying both the viability and the responsibility of BPL, this move can only mean one thing - it’s going to happen. Three big players infusing lots of cash into a technology belies an underlying strategy. But what is that strategy? …Is it VoIP, customer base, or something else? Time will tell. It was reported that the investment was to the tune of $100 mil.
