MovieLand spyware No Show

I wish I had a screen shot for this one, but then again, you probably don’t need it. If you have the Movieland malware installed on your machine, you will know it. It will drive you insane because a flash movie will take up your whole screen with sound. It will alert you to the fact that you have to pay Movieland, etc., etc. Don’t do it. Scam-o-rama. Here is the latest quick-n-dirty way to uninstall this piece of junk. By the way, Microsoft anti-spyware, spywareguide’s xcleaner, pest patrol, or spybot didn’t pick this one up. In any case, here goes nothing.

Movieland is comprised of the following possible programs and variants: AltPayments, Media Pipe, P2PNetworks, Fsupport, and ITBills. Right click on the taskbar at the bottom. The taskbar is the long horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen (unless you have moved it!) that contains the start button. Select “task manager” from the pop-up menu. Now, select the “processes” tab. Click the box “Show processes from all users.” Select any processes from the list which bear a resemblence to the movieland program/variant list above and choose “end task.” The most common among these is ITBills. This will allow us to delete them.

Next, go to “Start,” “control panel,” and “add/remove programs.” Again, uninstall any programs that are named like the above Movieland programs/variants. Now, right click on the “Start” button and select “explore.” Go to your “local hard disk C:” or similar. Basically, you want to look at your C drive. This is all the folders on the left side. Go down to “Program Files.” Now, click on the plus symbol to show all the programs. On the left side you should see all the program files or a message saying “Click here to view hidden files…” Now, find program files names like the above mentioned Movieland programs/variants. Delete them - all of them!

Lastly, click on “Start,” go to “Run,” and type “msconfig.” If you’re running win2k, sorry there is no msconfig. But you can find it on the internet. Save it to your desktop and run it. Of course, make sure you have virus protection, just in case! MSconfig has tabs, one of them is “Startup.” Make sure there are no programs in startup named like the Movieland programs/variants. If they are there, uncheck them. Click “OK” when all finished and reboot as it directs.

When you restart you will have a message about the configuration utility. Check the box so that the message won’t show again.

You should be done!

If not, let me know.

Hey, I read and followed instructions on at least three tech sites and still failed to remove Movieland. While so doing I casually noticed that we had failed to re-download AVG-FREE(www.grisoft.com) since the last time my computer crashed. Re-downloaded and ran AVG free. Voila! MOVIELAND GONE FOREVER! (Going on 3 days without that damned popup!

when I click delete on Movieland programs the process is interupted by a pop that says “access denied. Disc may be full” what next?

  3. P. Lay February 1, 2006 7:45 pm

I also got a message saying that the disk may be full. This is really annoying,so help is much appreciated.

Greetings spyware sufferers! I hate this crap…so unethical. If this program is the only one in add/remove programs that results in this behavior I am obliged to say that it’s an unethical way to keep you from removing their software. Can you follow the rest of the removal process and see if that helps?
