Stellarium planets.jpgI love this program – it’s called Stellarium. Stellarium is a great astronomy learning tool. You are looking at a view from Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park, WA. Here you can see the planet views revolving around the sun. Stellarium features planets, stars, nebulaes, constellations, etc. You can zoom in on the different astronomical bodies, apply azimuthal grids or equatorial grids, and see constellations and their associated art. The program comes in Windows, Mac, and linux flavors. In essence, this program has something for everyone. You can watch the planets, stars, and other deep space bodies rotate in time through the sky. You can watch sunrises and sunsets. This this makes me want to go and buy a telescope! Enjoy these other screenshots from Stellarium.
