WordPress 2

I just upgraded my blog to wordpress 2 last night. Here are my initial thoughts. The installation was simple. I backed up all data and content. I then turned off all my plugins and uploaded the new files. And then it was the moment of truth – refresh the page and see if it works or not. Well, it did. Then I went through and turned my plugins on, one at a time. That also worked, though some functionality had changed and altered the way some of these worked. I had to upgrade a few of them, but that’s not bad. Let me move on to the features.

The wysiwyg editor is really cool. Although it takes a little while to get the hang of it. I used to have a custom quick tag for images that would handle all the alignment and title features. I was used to doing it that way. But once you get used to the image handling and all that – you won’t want to go back. They have done a really good job on this part. Collapsing sidebars are pretty cool too. But the main features are under the hood. From what I hear, the most exciting part about WordPress 2 is yet to come. Developers are goint to be able to make some serious plugins – I can’t wait! Hats off to the development team at WordPress – your product is a work of art.

  1. I’ve heard so many good things about the upgrade, but I’m still cautious, the installation was such confusion for me – and some people are reporting plugin incompatability

  2. Thought you might want to know that you’re getting the following text (displayed as text) in your feed this morning (I replaced lt and gt with []:
    [script type="text/javascript"] [script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"]
