Firefox CPU Usage Issue

Firefox-logo.pngDon’t get me wrong, I love Firefox.  But one of the things that I have noticed is how it can hog the processor.  I mean, seriously, sometimes when I ‘m using it, it spikes to like 99% cpu usage in task manager and I just have to force it to close.  So, I tried a few things to see if I could rectify the problem.  What I found suprised me.

What I found is that for some reason, flash seems to kill FF.  There must be some sort of issue with it.  This is especially true with multiple tabs, if they are running flash objects.

Here’s the simple solution.  Especially now that a lot of ads are running on flash.  Go get flashblock.  This will stop flash from running automatically. It does, however, give you the option to start any flash object if you want to.  So, you get the best of both worlds.

Yea I can vouch for these issues, and this is when I have lots of tabs up :) , as well as having it up for a long time, then it really eats a good chunk of ram, around 128 megs. Though the cpu issues are not as often, and are not allways consistent..

I, and a lot of my friends, have the same problems. FF on websites with adds and flash use a lot of CPU – sometimes 40-50% on medium to fast computers – and this is of course way to much.
The problem occurs when having the same site open for several hours – then FF use all the resources.
I will try Flashblock, but its not the “right” solution in my mind – I hope either flash og firefox creators will fix this issues.

Firefox eats my cpu at 98% and loads high memory usage. So i have to kill the process. Maybe something is in the plugins or extensions incompatible or a glitch. Firefox crashes at me when i load PDF directly from web with acrobat reader. And I noticed that sometimes it’s open when I close it pressing X on the top right of the window. I can still see it in the process manager. Today i left it open a few hours and went out. When I came home my PC was a stiff. Had to wait about 10-15mins until it came to itself. And to see in the task manager what’s up with the system. Firefox eat up lot of memory and was at 98-99% CPU USAGE. Dont know why. Not sure. 2 Monitors were at standby and music was playing and a download manager was open.

Same problem here. Just open a few tabs on a site with flash on it (for example http://thesims2.ea.com/ ) and your CPU usage raises in a moment. Hope someone gets this fixed.
