I posted not too long ago about Google Calendar. I love this thing. I have overlayed 4 calendars and now can see them all in one place. But they retain their individuality because they are color coded. The only problem with Google Calendar, and it’s a big one, is that there is no way to share it via plain HTML. I hear Yahoo calendars do this. Well, I really wanted to share a Google calendar I created. Yeah, you can “share” your calendar using iCal or feeds, but this isn’t incredibly practical for most people. Most folks want plain ole’ HTML that they can view. I was amazed to find a workable solution.

The answer lies in iWebCal. You enter the url of the public Google Calendar (make sure you make your calendar publicly available in the “Settings” in Google Calendar - not in iWebCal!). Then you can view it in iWebCal. Now, take that url in your address bar and copy and paste it where you like to display your calendar (as a link). Make sure you don’t change days or views. This will retain today’s date. Meaning, it will automagically go to today’s date instead of being stuck on the same date view. Voila, you have now shared your Google Calendar as a simple HTML page. I hear Google is working on incorporating feature, but for now we can thank interfacethis for iWebCal.

That’s a really good tip! I find that Google tends to take a long time to add cool features once its products are popular (read: blogger *ahem*), leaving room for others to step in and fill the gaps.
