Virtual Laser Keyboard

By admin | Jul 31, 2006

virtual keyboard.gifThere are a few things missing from the ultra portable equation. Wouldn’t it be great to have a rollable, oled display? It would consume very low power, and it would be easy to transport. That would be the best of both worlds. Well, something else that is a pain on portable devices is the keyboard. They are always small and leave me craving my full size keyboard. Well, until they perfect voice dicatation software, there is always the virtual laser keyboard.

TechDynamic produces the virtual laser keyboard. This laser and infra-red device will display a full-sized keyboard and also detect keystrokes. It displays the keyboard via laser and detects keystrokes via infra-red. It supports HID and SPP bluetooth profiles and will run for 120 minutes of continuous typing. The VLK also gives feedback in the form of a clicking, typing sound. You can turn this feature off. Here is the compatibility list for this device:

Would be nice if it actually worked. I couldn’t get one to sync with my Palm TX. I wasted nearly 4 hours on it.
