I can remember playing Dungeons and Dragons. Man, having an invisible cloak was really nice. Or maybe that was another game. Anyway, an invisibility cloak is the stuff of little boy’s dreams, movies, and military strategists wish lists. That is, until now. Oleg Gadomsky of Ulyanovsk State University has filed for a patent for his invisible cloak. Oleg has been experimenting with nano particles of gold. Apparently, this type of thing has been done in Tokyo a few years ago. But there are some very important differences. The Tokyo effort was really just a glorified projection onto a reflective surface. This photo is from that effort.
…
But Oleg’s patent denotes that he isn’t using projection. Nope, he is using the light from behind the person. This would be revolutionary, to say the least. Oleg is quick to add that currently only stationary objects remain invisible because “during motion the radiation frequency changes.” But he also added that it’s only a matter of time until that hurdle is overcome. The jury is still out on whether he’s the real deal. But, man, can you imagine if he is?
