Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950 Stick

By admin | Nov 22, 2006

hauppauge-wintv-hvr-950.JPGLast year I built a PVR from scratch. It was a very fun project. The result was a fully functional computer available to the TV. It had integrated 5.1 sound, wireless internet, PVR (Tivo - if you don’t know what PVR is!), wirless mouse and keyboard, etc. I built it for a friend and I think I may have to do an HD version if I can get some vendors on board. Contact me if you are interested in donating parts for the project. In any case, Hauppauge has come out with a nice USB stick that could make your traveling even more enjoyable.

They have come out with a cable and HD ready USB stick. This will allow you to view cable and HD TV right on your laptop. This is really handy also when you want to install a TV tuner into your computer and you don’t have any more pci slots available. It is available for ATSC over the air HD up to 1080i. It also includes a portable antenna and their WinTV application to view the signal. And you can schedule via their WinTv Scheduler program.

You can find it on Amazon here.
