Most people get confused when it comes to iso images. These are files that have this kind of filename - winxp.iso. The first part is the name of the file and the ending is the extension. This is similar to reports.doc, where reports is the name of the Word document, and .doc is the file extension.

Files extension simply tell your computer what application opens them. In this case, it would be Microsoft Word. Now, iso images don’t burn like normal files. These files need a special program to write them to a disk. And that is where most people get confused. They usually just burn them using a burner program and then are vexed when the computer doesn’t boot the CD. The next logical step would be to create a boot CD using the iso image. But again, this won’t get you anywhere. You need a program that will handle that iso image file. Luckily, there is a free Windows program to burn iso images. Go grab it and enjoy!
