There is a continuing battle going on in the peer to peer landscape. That battle is over control. As media is becoming ever more easy to transcode, share, and copy; the battle is only going to get worse. Which makes me wonder. Isn’t there a win win type business proposition in media sharing? Someone needs to think way outside the box. In any case, one of the continuing dramas in this whole battle is that of Limewire. Limewire recently countersued the RIAA claiming that they are acting in a monopolistic fashion.
…
But Limewire is slowly being squeezed by legal pressures. The result could very well be a DRM filtering implementation on their network. If that occurs, then typical file sharing will change. But Frostwire intends to step in at that point. Frostwire is a totally free P2P client for the gnutella network. But Frostwire will never charge for its software. So, if Limewire succumbs to the DRM pilfering, Frostwire will be at your attention.

What I didn’t realize until I downloaded frostwire is that it is limewire. Atleast it appears to be. The interface is almost identical.
