The instructions indicate the correct terminal, but the one removed in the photo is incorrect. Otherwise, great help. Thank you. It's what I needed to work on my 2003 Odyssey.

Sir,
Recommend correcting your detailed (and otherwise on-the-mark) instructions to reflect removal of the negative terminal NOT being the red "+" terminal, but instead the back "-" terminal.

This is a critical safety piece as anyone attempting to remove the positive (red "+") terminal first will encounter a short circuit and resulting sparks should their wrench that's loosening the terminal come into contact with any metal connected to the vehicle chassis or is otherwise grounded. If there are any gasses emitted by the battery or fuel vapors, their ignition by these sparks could prove fatal.

Your effort to saving countless of readers time and money is most appreciated, and I am convinced that you would be interested in ensuring the safety of your readers who are following your instructions.

Thank you for your consideration of this advice.

Sincerely,
Rich N., Fayetteville, NC

The negative terminal is the black one, not the red; red is positive in all DC systems. You are supposed to disconnect the negative (black) first and reconnect it last.

I put 2 DVD's in my 2007 Honda Odyssey dvd player and then used another one to get them both out. Now it doesn't work at all. Can I replace the dvd player in a similar way to the cd player?

Thank you for detailing these instructions so clearly. My 3-year old did the same thing - put coins in the CD player - and, as a result, my brake lights wouldn't go off, even after the key was out of the ignition. A Honda mechanic alerted me to the possible connection to coins in the CD player. I would never have had the nerve to start tearing up my dash to take out the player myself if it weren't for stumbling upon this page. It really was easy!

One thing, however - your first instruction says "disconnect the negative terminal," but the photo is of you disconnecting the *positive* terminal (i.e., the one on the left protected by a red rubber cover) - something your owner's manual would tell you never to do without first undoing (with a wrench) the negative terminal. Could you clarify?

Thanks a ton for instructions. I did not believe that it would be that easy! I thought it was coins that the 2.5 year old had put in the CD player but it turns out it was a poker chip! I had to take off the back of the player to get the poker chip out - that was an easy additional step though. CD player worked like a charm once I got everything back in!
Thanks!

There is an easier way to remove the the bezel around the radio. Put your hand between the steering columm and the bezel, pull gently until the bezel dislodges form the dash. DONOT use a screwdriver you will damage the console around the radio.

I need to replace my 2002 Honda Odyssey radio because, you guessed it, 2 year old boy and coins. I can put an aftermarket stereo with DVD for a bit over $100. But how do I connect the factory screen that hangs from the ceiling? The screen works fine but has a Honda connector. How do you connect a Honda video screen to an aftermarket radio? Thanks!

My child 2 years old did the same thing, coins in the casette, my unit short circuited, I purchased a new one, installed it, put in the code, antenna won't pick up any stations, no sound from dvd, cd, tape or radio (am/fm). What is wrong now?
