Ford and Microsoft have teamed up to bring an in dashboard digital system. I have to admit that I am really pulling for Ford. I hope that their restructuring and Bold Moves campaign pays off for them. Anyway, this move is a good one. They are putting some advanced multimedia functionality into the dashes of their vehicles. And this is with the help of Microsoft. The Sync software allows for voice activated cell communications and digital music browsing. It can play iPods, Zunes, and other PlayForSure players. “Sync is what today’s generation and today’s drivers demand in connectivity,” says Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, product development, Ford Motor Company. “Not only does it offer hands-free phone operation and iPod®, Zune or MP3 player connectivity, it’s built on a software platform that is upgradeable and will allow us to offer new features by simply upgrading the software.” Users can connect to Sync via bluetooth or via USB. Bluetooth allows communication with phones and also music playing capability, if the cell phone supports it. The USB 2.0 port allows for charging of cell phones and music players. It also allows for voice control. The following file formats are supported: MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV and PCM. Watch the promo below for a sneak peek.
