Tomorrow, March 24th 2007, is Shutdown Day.
Maybe you’ve heard of Shutdown Day, maybe you haven’t. Well, the whole idea behind the concept is that our modern world is so wound up in the realm of computers that people themselves get caught up in the whole web without releasing themselves enough. Shutdown Day is an attempt to get people to release themselves from their computers for one day to see how they would cope without them. Sounds like a cool idea. Now, we here at PaulTech love our gadgets and our toys, and especially our computers, but there’s no harm in stepping away from the PC to get out and enjoy the world a bit more than you’re used to. Fresh air, maybe a root beer soda, toss a little baseball, all kinds of good stuff. Besides, as my dad would say, that’s one heck of a great resolution out there!
Seems like a bunch of others have the same idea. Right now the running counters show that 52 thousand have joined up with the cause, with 8,200 stating they can’t for some reason or another. Theres also a number of videos describing what fun you can have with your computer without even turning it on. This one I just find hysterical: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q8OMijrTVBU&mode=related&search=.
