That Kodak Easyshare V570 sure is a nice camera. I say that as someone who is about to utterly trump it with a camera of my own: The Sony DSC-H9/B. Heck, look at the size of my picture compared to Paul’s below! It’s not even a contest. This little job doesn’t need a second lens, as the first captures a fine 8.1 Megapixels. Now 8.1 isn’t the biggest size around (I think I’ve seen 10.1), but it can get the job done. Even as part of the whole Cybershot series of Sony cameras, this is a bit larger and a bit more expensive; after all, you are getting 8.1 MPs, 1080i HD output, a total zoom of 30x (optical 15x), and numerous other features. This camera diverges from its Cybershot cousins by being a digital SLR-like camera instead of the usual compact digital camera style. It even has a larger, pivot capable LCD screen you’ll find on most SLR-like cameras: 3.0″ wide.
This camera is sure packing power, so it can’t be small. I only say that because of all the retailers I searched, none of them had size specifications! Doesn’t anyone measure their gear anymore? Well, I don’t either, so I guess not.
I’ve also heard that there is some sort of color or resolution problem when taking pictures with the H- series beyond ISO 400. I don’t have this camera myself, but, based on the shutter speed, they could be having problems with selecting the right exposure index, but I am not sure. Keep that in mind if you take this camera seriously, as the DSC-H series is a contender.
