ohiogov.gifWell, we all thought it was fun that a backup media device from the State of Ohio was stolen earlier this week. And that the device had State of Ohio workers’ sensitive information on it. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Nope, like watching an accident on icy roads, you can just feel the impending smash and crash. It seems that they are now announcing that 225,000 Ohio taxpayers may now be at risk. I hope there isn’t any more news coming out of Columbus any time soon.

The backup media contained names of taxpayers from 2005-2007 who had been issued refunds, but had not cashed those refunds yet. Included in the file is their social security number. Also in the list is some 602 lottery winners who had not cashed their checks. And they also include social security numbers. You can visit the ID Protect site to check to see if you’re on the list.
