Well, it’s that time of year again. It’s time for Mac fanatics all over the world to froth at the mouth in eager, wanton expectation of the new OS X - Leopard (goes on sale tomorrow). Well, why in the heck should you fork over the $129 to buy it? Okay, okay, before I move on - you can also fork out $199 and get user licenses to put it on your whole family of Macs. That’s nice. Now, back to the issue at hand. Why should you buy Leopard? Let’s move through the features and watch a video too.

desktop.jpgDesktop - Now you can enjoy a reflective bottom icon shelf. But, you can also enjoy “stacked” items. A stack “is a Dock item that gives you fast access to a folder of files. When you click a stack, the files within spring from the Dock in a fan or a grid, depending on the number of items (or the preference you set).”

finder.jpgFinder - “Now you can actually see your files in the Finder — not just as icons, but as they really look. Using Cover Flow, you can flip through your documents as easily as you flip through album art in iTunes. Cover Flow displays each file as a large preview of its first page, and you can click through multipage documents or play movies.”

quicklook.jpgQuick Look - And now finding documents can be super easy because you get a preview of multiple page documents, movies, etc. before you open them. This quickens search time and get you back to what you wanted to do in the first place.

timemachine.jpgTime Machine - Arguably one of the coolest new features is this gem. All you have to do is attach an external drive and enable Time Machine. Now you don’t have to worry about backing up your hard drive again. It takes snapshots of your computer. When you want to find something you lost - go back in the Time Machine and view how your computer looked in the past. It’s almost like Dr. Who!

mail.jpgMail - Leopard adds mass stationary to the list. And it also gives you handy ways to jot notes and add to your to-do list. All you have to do is highlight something in an email and then click the to-do button. To-do items are linked to the original emails and added to iCal.

ichat.jpgiChat - As you will see in the video below, iChat allows you to add effects, do a Keynote presentation complete with video and your face video feed, share desktops, etc. Those are some nice features packed into it.

spaces.jpgSpaces - Add rooms or spaces to Expose and categorize everything. It’s just another convenient tool to organize your stuff and go through it easily.

safari.jpgSafari - Not much to say here.

parentalcontrols.jpgParental Controls - OS’s need this like yesterday. OS X Leopard incorporates web filtering, time logging and controls, and chat logging. Those are nice, but it would be nice to expand that - a lot.

bootcamp.jpgBoot Camp - Run the Windows virus OS on your Mac. If you can’t stand not having a blue screen on your Mac, use this multiple boot loader option.

Here’s a nice video promo:
