Yes, it’s that impressive. And it’s impressive on a lot of different fronts. First, and most obvious, let’s talk about the speed. The Memjet Printing technology can print page width color prints at rates of 60 pages per minute. Now, that is amazing in and of itself, but then we come to the price. Memjet is forecasting that a business class printer utilizing its printer technology will cost $300. Now, let’s compare that to the current HP Color LaserJet CP4005n. This thing prints 25 color prints per minute and the unit costs $1000. This is printing at 600 dpi. Memjet does native at 1600 dpi. Those are some numbers that could truly turn the printing market on its head.

So, how is this achieved? Well, for starters, the print head is the width of the page. That keeps the slow, mechanical process of print head movement to a minimum - as in none. There are some other nuances to the process, but that’s the big part. This will certainly change things!
