Fall has now left us and winter is in full swing. But fall hasn’t just left us, it has left us with a big mess. If you have overhanging tree above your gutters, you will have a big clean up job with all the fallen leaves. And this is where iRobot comes in. They have made a gutter cleaning robot called the Looj. The Looj fits in your gutter and is remote controlled. This allows you to sweep back and forth through the gutter. iRobot is also working on a smaller version of the unit for colonoscopies. Psych.

Here are the FAQ’s:
How does iRobot Looj remove debris from gutters?
iRobot Looj uses a powerful 3-stage auger, spinning at 500 RPM, to break up sludge and clogs, lift out debris and brush your gutters clean. The hard plastic disruptors break apart clogs, while natural rubber ejectors lift and throw the debris from your gutters, finally, sturdy polypropylene bristles brush your gutters clean.

Will Looj work in my gutters?
Because Looj is 2-1/4 inches tall it does not fit in all gutters. We recommend that you measure your gutters and the height clearance of the straps from the bottom of the gutter to the bottom of the straps. All gutter straps in your gutter must be at least 2-1/4″ high off of the bottom of the gutter. The width of the gutter must be at least 3-1/4″ wide for Looj to fit. Looj does not work in antique-style wood gutters or half-round gutters.

What types of gutters can Looj clean?
Looj fits in gutters that are at least 3-1/4” wide. Gutter straps must be at least 2-1/4” from the bottom of the gutter, as Looj is just under 2 ¼” high and must pass under the straps during operation. Measure your gutters and straps to ensure Looj will work properly. Looj is not able to clean antique-style wood gutters or half-round gutters.

What type of debris does iRobot Looj remove?
Looj will clean dry and wet leaves, pine needles, pine cones and other debris typically found in a gutter. Looj will not clean hardened dry mud or sediment that is stuck to the bottom of the gutter, nor will it clean small trees or large sticks that may be in your gutter.

How do I operate iRobot Looj?

  1. Place the ladder in one secure position.
  2. Attach iRobot Looj to your belt with the included belt clip or the Looj Holster (Holster included with models 130 and 150 and also sold separately - Item No. 13101).
  3. Climb the ladder using both hands.
  4. Remove the handle/remote.
  5. Place the robot in the gutter using the detachable handle/remote.
  6. Drive Looj back and forth in your gutter using the remote. Looj moves in both forward and backward directions. You control the direction of the robot and the auger so the debris is propelled away from your home.
  7. When the job is done, drive Looj back to the location of your ladder, reattach the handle/remote, lift Looj out of your gutter and secure Looj to your belt to descend the ladder using both hands.
  8. Remove the handle/remote and waterproof robot easily hoses-off for quick cleanup.

What type of battery does iRobot Looj use?
Looj operates on a 7.2V Nickel Cadmium rechargeable battery.

How long does it take to charge iRobot Looj?
15 hours.

How long will the battery last?
The battery operates iRobot Looj for 30 to 45 minutes, depending upon the amount of debris and sludge clogging your gutters. This run time generally equates to about 250 linear feet of gutter cleaning per full battery charge.

The audio was over-riding your voice and it would take several weeks to clean the gutters of a large home.

Your voice does not over-ride the noise. It would take several weeks to clean the gutters of a large home.
