So, is there a catch?  Sure, there’s a catch – it’s for short distances of under 33 feet.  But the trade off is a very fast connection which is very cheap to manufacture.

This device uses an amazing 1 millimeter wide antenna and less than 2 watts of power.  And it utilizes CMOS technology, which is an industry standard, and will therefore be cheap to manufacturer – as in $10!  The chip operates in the 60GHz millimeter wave range, which is virtually untapped.  This will allow providers to tap wide bandwidth very cheaply.  The comparison is running around that you could download an entire HD movie in a matter of seconds.  That makes that iPhone look even more tempting in the future!

That’s pretty ridiculous. Hopefully they can expand the range even if the tradeoff is size or cost.
