Robert Salisbury didn’t want to get rid of all his possessions. In fact, he likes his life and his stuff. So, it came as a surprise when he found “looters” rummaging through his house and driving away with his possessions.
File this one under “Give me my stuff back” and “Don’t believe everything on the internet.” No, let me ammend that to “If it sounds too good to be true…” Come on people, get some common sense. Anyway, Robert Salibury got a call from a woman asking him when she would come pick up his horse. That call tipped Robert off to the fact that something was very wrong. He drove home to find folks driving off with truckloads of his stuff and people going through his house. Can you imagine? Talk about a violation. It seems someone posted a message on Craigslist on his behalf. That’s nice. But the kicker is that the folks taking the stuff didn’t believe him when he tried to stop them. “I informed them I was the owner, but they refused to give the stuff back…They showed me the Craigslist printout and told me they had the right to do what they did…They honestly thought that because it appeared on the internet it was true.” And his final statement says it all: “It boggles the mind.”
