Turbine Jet Engine RC Planes

Sometimes you are in the mood for something, well, frivolous.  You know, you just want to do something that is completely out of the norm and fun.  Flying one of these bad boys would definitely fit the bill.  You can buy a turbine engine jet RC plane from $700-$10,000+.  It’s amazing to listen to these things howl and watch them fly.  Some go 200mph+!  The picture above is from a fiberglass model of a Dassault Mirage 4.  It is 55 pounds heavy with a Pegasus MK3 turbine engine.

It’s amazing to see planes that people have custom made.  They have poured tons of money and time into these things.  And they are really really cool.  I’ll show a bunch of videos that demonstrate:

Complete with Top Gun Soundtrack

RC Jet Acrobatics, pretty amazing

Jet with onboard camera - This video is LOUD!

Gigantic Jet Turbine Airbus

Jet Crash showing that these can be very dangerous

File this one under “Get out of the way!!!!”

So, all you need is money, time, common sense, and lots of safety mindedness.

I have a very good friend in town who is just now building his own turbine RC plane. The detail of some of the models is amazing as is the performance — plus, they even sound like the real thing.
