For the discerning mobile user, hardware needs an extra something.  They don’t want a horrid looking box to tote around.  Iomega serves up the Ego external hard drive with leather case.  I had to do a double take to make sure it didn’t hold whiskey.

The 250 GB drive comes with the following specs:

  • Compatible with PC and Mac®
  • USB 2.0/1.1 compatible
  • Transfer rates:
    • USB 2.0 480 Mbits/s
  • Includes EMC® Retrospect® Express backup and disaster recovery software (PC & Mac)
  • One-year limited warranty

What You Need

PC Users:

  • 300mhz processor or higher
  • Built-in USB connection
  • Microsoft® Windows® Vista** / 2000 / 2000 Professional / XP Home / XP Professional / XP Professional x64
  • Built-in USB 2.0 connection
  • 256MB RAM or higher as required by operating system
  • 1GB hard drive space

Mac® Users:

  • Power Mac G3 or higher, iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini computer with built-in USB connection
  • Requires Mac OS X 10.1.5 or above
  • USB 2.0 host connection or controller for USB 2.0 speeds
  • 128MB RAM or higher as required by operating system
  • 200MB hard drive space

    Just don’t pull this out when driving down the highway - you’re liable to get stopped and searched.
