When folks are trying to get pregnant, all else seems to take a sideline. This is especially true of individuals that are having a harder time getting pregnant. The DuoFertility gadget takes the work out of it by monitoring ovulation markers, a lot.
The woman wears a small, discreet patch under her arm. This monitors her basal body temperature. Here is a wikipedia definition of basal body temperature:
“Basal body temperature is the body temperature measured immediately after awakening and before any physical activity has been undertaken. In women, ovulation causes an increase of one-half to one degree Fahrenheit (one-quarter to one-half degree Celsius) in basal body temperature (BBT); monitoring of BBTs is one way of estimating the day of ovulation. The tendency of a woman to have lower temperatures before ovulation, and higher temperatures afterwards, is known as a biphasic pattern. Charting of this pattern may be used as a component of fertility awareness.”
The device can read the patch data when it is close to it. The wearer of the patch simply needs to the move the DuoFertility device (like picture below) near the patch to gather the data. You can read the results directly on the device or hook the device up to a PC. The maker of the device oversees a database of women’s ovulation data that you can benchmark against. You can also upload your anonymous data to help others. Trials for the device start this summer. And it sounds like the cost is going to be an exorbitant $1000.

Well, at least these gadgets make it easier than peeing on a stick all the time.
