Once you start messing with your car, you immediately want to know what is going on with it. One of the great things about newer cars (1996 and newer) is that they have a great onboard computer system. What’s even better is that you can tap into that computer and get all kinds of amazing information. Enter in ScanGauge II. It’s what you dream about, if you’re into cars at all.
ScanGauge can display all of the following:
- Horsepower
- Fuel Consumption Rate to 1/100th per gallon/liter
- Vehicle speed (MPH)
- Fuel Economy
- Cost Per Mile/Cost Per Trip
- Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
- Battery Voltage
- Engine Load
- Coolant Temperature
- Throttle Position
- Intake Air Temperature
- Ignition Timing
- Engine Speed (RPM)
- O2 Sensor Data
- Fuel Trim
- Hybrid Battery Charge (for Toyota Prius and Ford Escape)
- And many more, depending on your vehicle’s sensor design
- Maximum Speed
- Average Speed
- Maximum Coolant Temperature
- Maximum RPM
- Driving Time
- Driving Distance
- Fuel Used
- Fuel Cost
- Trip Fuel Economy
- Distance to Empty
- Time to Empty
- Fuel to Empty
So, if you want to reset your check engine light, this will work. But please, get the code first and find out what that means! It’s giving you an error for a reason. And sometimes that can mean something serious. Also, if you want to monitor gas mileage in real time, this things works really well. Will set you back around $150. Here’s how it looks in the car.

This would be a great addition for any car, especially in light of the ever rising gas and diesel prices.
I have already purchased a scan tool, but it will not work on my Landrover Disc II. Snap-on’s
version won’t work either. I stopped at a Land
rover dealer and asked them if one was available.
They said ” not to the general public “. I am looking for a unit that will give me real time data, not info from the last drive cycle. I need to be able to monitor O2 voltage as well as closed/open loop info .Will this scanguage II
work on my LR Disc II (2001) w/ 4.0 V8 ?
