We know – it’s just plain hard to shop for geeks. They usually have all the standard geek gifts. So, what the heck do you get that electronista? Well, we have compiled a small list of some things they may not have…yet.
Wireless Extension Cords ($35)
I mean, are you kidding me? This is like putting on a super geek suit. They can now trump all their friends with this microwave, wireless electricity extension cord set. Just don’t let baby play near it, doh!
Space Invaders Mini Arcade Game ($29)
Relive the glory of days gone by with this Space Invaders Mini Arcade Game. Yes, now you can remember when arcade games exploded on the scene with incredibly vibrant 2 colors! Feel your geek meter rise as all the sounds and sights of yesteryear tantilize your senses. Or maybe the small size of this arcade box will symbolize your extreme let down. Hmmmm….
Schylling Classic Windup Robot ($8.99)
A cheap, but very sentimental gift for those elders in our midst. This retro robot has all the looks, feels, and sounds of yesteryear. Crank it up and watch it patrol across your desk. But it’s just as good standing guard too.
Robby the Robot Life Size Replica ($50,000)
When we do this list, we just have to put in some completely impractical and ridiculously expensive gifts. A geek can dream, can’t s/he? No, it doesn’t walk. Sad but true. It does spit out lines from the original series. And it is spec’d out to the original blueprints. You can also project your voice through it via wireless microphone. But I think this toy goes to the elitely rich.
Darth Vader FX Light Saber Replica ($149)
Obviously, Darth Vader’s is the red one. The smaller, green one is Yoda’s. It’s also cheaper. But the lighting effect is pretty cool as well as the light off. It also does the ambient sounds while moving it in space. A very geeky, fun gift for a star wars fanatic.
Friendly Robotics RoboMower Rl1000 with Docking Station ($1999)
What is your most precious commodity? No, it isn’t money – you can get that back. It’s time. And who wouldn’t want to recoup all that time spent mowing their lawn? Okay, so there are some people who enjoy doing it, but most of us just like looking at a nice lawn – or playing video games instead!
Star Trek Communicator and Phaser Two Pack ($49)
How do you know when you are a consummate geek? Well, when you have the hots for green women – that’s when. Trekkers can take on the part of the expendable crew member with this kit. Simply grab this well priced kit and you are on your way to becoming the hit of the party. Or maybe you want to wear it around your, er, house. Live long and prosper.
Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) ($206)
Sometimes carrying around that clunky camcorder is a real pain in the butt. There’s a new camcorder on the block – the Flip camcorder. This thing is crazy small. Think compact digital camera – but an HD camcorder! This thing does 720p resolution, has 4 gigs of internal memory, and can fit into your pocket. Drooooooool.
Apple iPhone (around $200 or more)
You can’t really get away with not mentioning the iPhone. It’s not just the hardware that makes this device wonderful – it’s the apps that you can get for it! I think I just read that Apple reported 300 million downloads in their app store. Mercy, that’s incredible. And it shows that people love the extendability of this device. It’s a must have.
Wii Fit with Balance Board ($179)
Mark this one up as in “Duh!” But this little wonder never seems to lose its popularity. When you see people putting their whole body into it, literally, you can see why. It’s freakin’ hilarious. Why not add some fitness to your Wii regime? It’s the latest fad to hit the Wii market. Yours for $172 – complete with balance board.
Left 4 Dead Xbox360 ($56)
Maybe you have an Xbox360 gamer in your family. Well, this highly touted game that is best said by the creators: “Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.
A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic’s victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the “lucky” few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you’re dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.
Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players’ actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.”
Be warned, it is rated mature.
Warhawk Greatest Hits Playstation 3 (No Headset) ($9.95)
If your gamer is a PS3 junkie, then this game will be for them. Another highly touted title, Warhawk delivers: “Take flight with Warhawk and experience a true full-scale war in an intense online multiplayer arena. Take to the skies and engage in high-speed aerobatic dogfights or hover to provide crucial aerial support to surging ground troops. Unleash an artillery assault with heavily armored tanks and all terrain vehicles. Select one of four online game modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and the all-new Zone Mode Customize your soldier with an unlimited combination of armor and squad markings Team up with friends and create competitive clans and stay organized with user-friendly communication tools Complex stat tracking records and rewards your accomplishments on the battlefield Bluetooth and USB headset compatibility for strategic communications and online voice chat.”
It’s a highly addictive and entertaining game that is rated teen. And the price is really right!

Extensive Game Modes.
Rock Band delivers four music games in one – challenging rockers to master lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals through the five separate game modes.

Track list includes:
Garmin nüvi 350 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator ($157)
If the geek in your life is like me – they have no sense of direction. I absolutely stink at directions. Why not make their life a lot easier by giving them a very reasonably priced Garmin Nuvi 350? Specs:
TiVo TCD652160 HD Digital Video Recorder ($243)
How about giving your geek the gift of a 1080i digital recorder? That’s what the Tivo HD digital recorder gives you. If you have no idea what that is – well, it’s niiiiice. Features:
Canon PowerShot SD770IS 10MP Digital Camera (Silver) ($159)
Do you want a great, compact camera? You really don’t have to look any further than the Canon Powershot SD770IS 10 mega pixel camera. I have two Canon cameras and love them. This camera gives you great quality in a small package. And at that price it’s hard to go wrong.
Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV ($1977)
Okay, so you really want to spoil yourself or that special geek – right! Well, here is Samsung’s luscious 52 inch LCD HDTV with a red tinted glass bezel. It’s fashionable and uber geekdome in one awesome package. Features please:
Nikon 7072 Lens Pen Cleaning System ($12.99)
Alright, alright, so you don’t have that kind of cash laying around. I totally understand. How about giving a camera lover or telescope owner (don’t worry – we’ll include that soon enuff!) a way to clean their favorite optics. This works really well and is dirt cheap. A great combo.
Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote ($19.33)
Once again, I’ve heard your pleas to cut costs. How about a universal remote that does the job, but costs a fraction of other universal remotes? The Sony RM-VL600 gets rave reviews and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, I may just buy myself one this year.
Celestron SkyScout Personal Planetarium ($178)
Okay, this is not exactly cheap. But it is uber cool. I posted about this little ditty a while ago and it’s still selling well. That’s because it does the following:
Vivitar Telescope with Tripod ($31)
Want to buy that novice astronomer a little something? Well, the well priced Vivitar telescope should fit the bill. It will at least keep them busy for a while.
MTRON PRO 7000 SERIES 2.5″ 16GB SATA SSD ($249)
This one isn’t super cheap, but let me tell you what it will do for that uber geek in your life. It will make them get happy feet. It will make them blush with their computer’s performance. It will make them shout with glee at their application starting times. Yeah, all that nerdy stuff that makes cloud thinkers and forgetful scientists happy. This drive is SATA – make sure your laptop is SATA, not IDE. They also have IDE and other sizes – 32GB ($400). I just went with the most reasonable here. Just look at these burning stats:
I just bought this drive and can attest to its speed. It’s very quick. The storage size isn’t great, but there is no going back on this kind of speed. The boot times and the application launching times are incredible.
Klipsch PM21 ProMedia 2.1 THX® Certified Multi-Media Speaker System ($120)
This is another system that I purchased this year. And I am very glad that I did. This system puts out some of the clearest sound I’ve heard in small system. Whether you are playing music or gaming, you will be very surprised by its sound. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Well, there’s always more that I can add to the list. I will be updating this more before Christmas. Feel free to email me with your wishlist items. I’ll look at emails and might put them up.

I just wanted to make sure that you knew the Wireless Extension Cords ($35) from ThinkGeek was just their well known April Fools joke from several years ago.
