This is a warning to anyone that is going to purchase a new computer. It seems that major computer stores are really starting to push 64 bit processors. Now, that’s great and all, but there are some things you need to consider before you do that.
The first thing you need to think about is driver support. And this especially entails printers. If you have a printer you love, and you don’t want to replace it, you need to look at whether they have 64 bit drivers for that beloved appliance.
The next thing you need to look at is backward compatibility. Yes, there really are some super sucky 16 bit business apps being used. I hate to say that, but it’s true. That most likely will not work on your 64 bit processor. That means that your business productivity is shot.
Now, you can run a 32 bit version of Windows on a 64 bit processor, but it won’t take advantage of the processor’s power.
