As electronics miniaturizes and increases in quality, new novelties are cropping up.  Such a novelty is the portable printer.  Now, some of these are ultra portable and some are portable.  You have to love technology!

Canon Pixma mini320 Compact Photo Inkjet Portable Printer (2172B002)

People love this thing.  It features a handy dandy carry handle.  You can print from camera phones, digi cameras or memory cards.   It prints 5×7′s in less than a minute and in 9600×2400 dpi no less.  Not exactly light at 11 pounds.  Looks pretty cool tho.

Pentax PocketJet 3 Plus 300-DPI Mobile Portable Printer with Integrated USB/IrDA

Another (oldie) goodie is this tiny Pentax printer, complete with bluetooth.  It can do 3 ppm at only 300×300 dpi.  The thing that people obviously love about this printer is the size.  It’s tiny and weighs in at a measley 1 pound.  It does full page printing and uses no toner or print cartridge.  I’m assuming it’s thermal.  Features:

HP Photosmart A432 Portable Printer

Another printer that people go gaga over – even though it’s older and not as sleek.  Good quality for cheap.  You can preview your photos using a hooked up camera display.  It goes pretty decent 4×6 prints in under a minute.  It has red eye removal and some other photo features, weighs 3 pounds and has a carry handle.

Canon LK-51 Portable Kit for Canon i70 Color Jet Portable Printer

Okay, this is a kit, instead of a printer.  But it transforms the Canon i70 into a portable printer.  It includes its own lithium ion battery that makes it go for 6 hours.

Canon PIXMA iP90 Photo Inkjet Portable Printer (9466A001)

Here’s a fantastically rated printer by Canon.  It’s small and gets the job done.  People seem to rave about the portability and functionality.  Though the total cost of ownership seems a bit high.   It does 12 ppm color and 16ppm black.  It can do color at 4800×1200.

HP H470b Office Jet Mobile Portable Printer

This printer is a real workhorse.  HP has jammed a lot of features of a full sized model into a business class portable printer.  I’m envious.  It can churn out black prints at 22ppm and color out at 18ppm.  It also features a page feeder and wireless connectivity.  It packs a lot of other features that others don’t.  Though it’s a hefty 9 pounds.

Polaroid CZA-10011B PoGo Instant Mobile Portable Printer (Black)

Well, I’ve been watiting for this thing to come on the market.  They say it is coming soon.  Two years ago I wrote about the Zink printer.  Now Polaroid puts that technology into a camera!  It doesn’t get any more portable than this thing.  The printer is currently on sale for $100.  It doesn’t use ink.  It uses a thermal process with a special paper.  The paper contains pigment crystals that, when heated, permeate the surface.  The cool thing is that the printers are smudgless because of the process.  Now, the prints aren’t amazing, but who cares?  People will really get into this because it brings ultra portable printing back!  Features:
