People who get an LCD, plasma, or some such flat screen should invest in flat screen wall mounts. They look nice and really aren’t hard to install. I recently purchased a Vizio VO47 and still love it. When we did that, we had to think about how we wanted to mount the thing. We came up with a nice solution overall.
One of the things you want to think about is the presentation of your newly acquired flat screen. Flat screen wall mounts open up a whole array of options. We had originally thought about putting the Vizio on an older desk of ours. But that left out my Sony home theater system. I have to take a photo of the layout because I think it really works. I need to post on that Sony sound system too because it was a steal and works wonders.
Basically, I have a small 5.1 sound satellite system. I have the center speaker mounted on top of the DVD player (blu ray will be in the future), which is mounted on top of the Sony Receiver. What we did is purchase a flat screen wall mount and put that Vizio up above it. Now, we chose to go with a flush mount. In my experience, most people don’t use the swivels. And I wanted something that hugged that wall tight.
So, flat screen wall mounts allow you to present the TV in a sleek way. There is no desktop surface mount. Now, the flat screen is presented, in my humble opinion, in the way it was designed for – as flat as you can get it. That opens the space and gets the clutter out of the way. It’s amazing how open our room now seems. We had an entertainment center in that space before.
So, my recommendation is to go for flush mount, unless you have some need to get the swivel. But, when in doubt, go flush. I don’t think you will regret it – unless you have terrible glare. But that can be remedied other ways.
I actually have a Vizio mount for my vizio 47″ LCD and it’s been working out great. If you are looking for a good way to display your TV, I would recommend taking at look at them. Go to http://www.vizio.com/productCatalog.aspx?id=2600
