One of the mantras of business is to give the customer what she wants.  Now, when it comes to movies (well – it does TV programming as well), this has not been given a fair shake.  Zillion TV wants to offer you a lot of control over movie and TV viewing, with very little cost.  Interested?

The interesting thing about the Zillion TV is the control measure.  You can view things completely free, if you are willing to allow ads.  You can choose the category of ads you want to see.  Which I think is a pretty smart idea because most people will choose something they like.  Sneaky, sneaky.  If you want to watch stuff ad free, you will have to pay a nominal pay-as-you-go fee.  It’s a completely subscription free model.  There is also a pay to own option for each episode/movie.

The ads will be shown before and after feature films.  For typical TV programming, the ads will be shown in their normal break points, but Zillion TV says that ads will run about 50% less time.  Pretty interesting.  The kind of odd thing is that Zillion TV will only be offered through ISP’s.  I guess there are a lot of value add/ synergistic things they can do together.  But I still thought that was an odd pairing.

There is a nominal $50 activation fee and then you are off.  You get a set top box and remote.  What about resolution?  Here’s a quote off their site:

The ZillionTV Device supports 480i and 480p standard-definition (SD) resolutions, as well as the following high-definition (HD) resolutions: 720p, 1080i, 1080p. To output the highest-definition resolutions (1080i or 1080p), an HDMI cable is required.
