Interead’s Cool-er Ebook Reader

It’s seems like market analysts have been predicting forever that ebooks would hit the big time.  Of course, things never go as fast as people want them to, and this has been a great example.  But the Kindle and the Sony Reader have brought ebooks to the mainstream.  In fact, Jeff Bezos recently announced that ebooks are tracking at 35 percent of print sales where available.  That’s pretty amazing.  Well, a UK company called Interead is launching a cheaper ebook reader, called the Cool-er, as well as an online bookstore.

The Cool-er will start shipping in June, with an official launch show in New York at the end of this month.  The cost will be $250.  The obvious price point being lower than the Kindle or Sony Reader, for now.  You can purchase a book from the catalog of 750,000 books at Cooler Books.  The battery will last 8,000 page turns and the unit itself utilizes E-ink, like the other readers.  And here’s the specs:
