Sony PS3 Slim Even More Compelling

I know plenty of people who bought the PS3 because it included a blu-ray player. That was the deciding factor for them. Now, as blu-ray players keep descending in price, a slim PS3, at a lower price than the bulky PS3, makes this console very compelling.

Heck, the smaller footprint alone is enough to make most people take another look. They dropped the weight and footprint by a third. Forget wiping off your fingerprints from a shiny surface, as the PS3 slim has a matte finish that keeps the fingerprints away. Yeah, some people think it looks cheaper because of that. I guess that’s all up to you, the purchaser.

Forget the touch buttons on the front, as those are replaced by the arcane push button. Energy and processing efficiencies have been gained through a total re-engineering of the chassis and components. Also, the experience is pretty much the same as using the predecessor fat PS3. The fan, however, does run a little quieter and cooler.

So, you get a much smaller, lighter, quieter, and cooler PS3 for only $299. Er, that’s a pretty good deal.

i own a playstation 3 slim, they are very much a playstation 3 on a diet. But you must buy a few things muti usb adaptor for 4 or 6 more ports. with a muti card reader. The slim gets pretty hot on the far left center and back of the ps3 slim. hdd is bigger new spot for it as well. Just as easy as before, it has WIFI, plays ps1 disk games cant play ps2 games. But heres the worst of it all the new bluRay laser is loud and sometimes cant read very well at all very noisy sounds like a dreamCast at times and we know that isnt good. There easy to clean, easy to open up to change parts. haven’t taken the slim too far apart just messed with the laser trying to lower the sound in the laser reading the fan is to the left of the bluRay drive didn’t see the power supply not sure if there like the fat ones or not. Also the browser in the ps3 gives you a full system lock up or cache feels up too fast and your forced to watch a blank screen or unplug your system. Sony collects error reports on the slim as well.
