Well if you want to buy a photographer a super luscious camera, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II 21.1MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) would be it. Get them this for Christmas and listen to them squeal like a school girl.
That’s because the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a serious camera. And it adds a new caveat to the package that will enhance its appeal. You can now shoot HD video (1920×1080) at 30fps. Now, a pro videographer would be frustrated with this as a video camera, but who cares. For the pro or serious amateur, the HD video option just gives you yet another reason to buy. But enough about the video, let’s get on with the photos.
The shutter speed of the Canon EOS ranges from 1/8000th of a second to 30 seconds, giving you the control and versatility that you want. The 100-6400 ISO range offers you the flexibility that only typically very high end cameras deliver. Used in low light situations, this camera can more than hold its weight.
The mind boggling 21.1 megapixel CMOS brings you the detail you would expect. The full frame sensor can deliver dimensions the same as a 35mm. And the 3 inch LCD viewer (yeah, i know, viewfinder purists!) gives you good viewing of your pic shot selections or photo playbacks. The 9 point autofocus feature isn’t as robust as other Canon cameras, but does get the job done. Color fidelity is superb and blacks and whites render well.
Features:
I think a lot of photographers will opt for the Mark II at $2699 because it really hits a price/value sweet spot. For instance, the Mark III, also a 21.1 megapixel camera, goes for around $4,000-$8,000, depending on model. Find it at Amazon for $2699 – this doesn’t include a lens.
