I think ebook readers like the Kindle, the Nook, and the Sony Reader are pretty cool. When you first gape at that e-ink it’s pretty hard not to be impressed. It just looks so, well, like text. The problem with those readers is that they are so one dimensional. Well, Pixel Qi is really going to give them a run for their money.
That’s because Pixel Qi has demonstrated, at CES, a display that can act like an lcd, an ebook reader, and a mutation of both. In one mode, the display looks like a standard ebook reader in all its glory. But, the display can also display full color, like an LCD screen. But wait, there’s more. No, not Ginsu knives. It can also do a hybrid mode when in full sun so you can do your computing with ease. Oh, Californians will love it. Forget it Fargo.
The crazy thing is that Pixel Qi will start production in 2010. That must have knocked everyone’s socks off. And, get this, battery usage could be bolstered up to 5x under certain applications because of its low power usage. Schnikey. I want a netbook that lasts a week on a charge!
Amazing that this will be out very soon.
