The Barrett M82A1 is one bad gun. The original M82 was featured on future weapons. But the M82A1’s main purpose is not sniping individuals in the battlefield. It is used primarily to breach concrete barriers, disable vehicles, hit installations, etc. However it’s used, it’s sure to instill fear in the enemy’s mind.
The incredible range of 4900 feet makes this a versatile weapon. Let that range sink in for a bit. It’s a high energy weapon that can also handle armor piercing, incendiary rounds. This weapon takes a .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun) round, pictured below. Imagine that hitting something or someone. Egads.
The flared nozzle minimizes kickback from those massive rounds. This also allows quick volley fire. I could go on and on about the Barrett M82A1, but I think video does it best justice.
