Toshiba’s previous Excite LE and the Thrive tablets didnt exactly inspire people. They were either too slow, too expensive, or too cheap feeling. I know, that’s not an exhaustive list of woes, but you get the point. Anyway, Toshiba made an attempt to listen, which is always good. The Excite Tegra line is the result. But will it excite?
The interesting thing about the new line is not so much the beautiful screen or the Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset. It’s really that they decided to do sizes 7.7 inch, 10 inch, and a massive 13 inch. Honestly, I think the problem for these lines is going to be the price point. They are wanting the following for the models:
- 13 inch, 64 GB – $750
- 10 inch, 16 GB – $500
- 7.7 inch, 32 GB – $530
That’s going to be hard when pitted against the iPad. However, the Amoled screen is beautiful and the graphics are snappy. But none of that matters if people don’t buy it in the first place.
