padded post in Brick Lane

I’m not sure if there’s something we should laugh about or if this is a good initiative, but looks like the British are testing an idiot-proof system that will keep inattentive people from banging into lampposts when they look down at their mobile phones. Hell they even gave a name to such injuries, ‘walking and texting’ injuries.

A study showed that 1 in 10 people hurt themselves when focused on their mobile phones and the city with the most cases is Brick Lane. This is where the padded-post-pilot scheme has been put in place and if it shows out to be a success more cities will follow: Birmingham, Manchaster and Liverpool.

It’s very funny to see how authorities have to take measures against stupidity and protect from ours own mistakes.
