It seems that Samsung is willing to throw in some serious competition when it comes to the battle of the megapixels. Both i8510 and M8800 Pixon have received plenty of publicity for the world class 8 Megapixel camera they carry and Samsung decided to show off the new SCH-W740 to that line of devices.
It will pack a sturdy 8 megapixel CCD camera with auto focus, face detection, ISO up to 1600, Blink and Smile shot functions. This makes it another mobile for the shutter bugs who like to carry their camera all over the place.
Sporting a 3.3-inch WVGA 480×800 touchscreen display the W740 also comes loaded with built-in DMB digital TV tuner, GPS receiver, and support for 3.5G HSDPA, WCDMA and GSM networks.
Obviously it would be nice to have a few more details on the battery life, music backup and connectivity options, but it seems they will be available very shortly. The mobile will come with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, which is expected make it a huge hit. One will have to just wait and watch on that one though!
