When the Sony Ericsson Aino first passed the FCC approval supporting 850/1900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA connectivity it was being speculated that AT&T will be the carrier to endorse it. It now turns out that the Aino will be sold in the US as an unlocked phone which will bear a hefty price tag of $599.99. It will still run on the AT&T 3G network and will be available through the SonyStyle online shop.

The Aino features a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display (240 x 432 pixels) and an interesting sliding alphanumeric keypad which lets you use the phone as a remote controller for the PS3 gaming console. On the rear of the phone is an 8MP camera with LED and it lets you records VGA quality videos at 30 frames per second.

Aino furnishes GPS with Google Maps and you can also seek hotspots through the Wi-Fi integration. As far as the memory goes, Aino supports a max. 8GB microSD card. The phone is currently out of stock but you can still place your order and the phone will arrive as the stocks get refilled.

The fact that the Droid will be an entire family from Big Red is no secret, but the fact remains that the Motorola Droid has been hogging all the limelight. No one is talking about the HTC Eris which will be the second handset belonging to the Verizon Droid lineage.

Speculations are rife that Eris will probably be priced at $99 and it will come with a modest 528MHz Qualcomm CPU. Also, the November 6 release date and the Android 1.6 existence are not confirmed pieces of information.

Gladly, there is something which is confirmed about the HTC Eris, thanks to some leaked HTC documents tracked by PhoneArena. The HTC Eris will surface with a 5 Megapixel camera assisted with the auto-focus technology on the rear, it will be WiFi integrated and just like its cousin Hero, it will sport no chin. What comes across as a surprise is that the Eris will surface without a flash assisting the camera.

Not bad, eh?

Nokia has released its first TD-SCDMA-6788 for China Mobile which is a clear attempt to conquer the Chinese market-a place full of opportunities for growth given its astoundingly large consumer base. To lure in Chinese buyers, Nokia has used traditional Chinese furniture and architecture inspired patterns on the back of the slide and the battery cover.

The TD-SCDMA 6788 runs Symbian S60 so it belongs to the smartphone category but it comes with a fairly ordinary 2.-inch QVGA display. On the rear is a 5MP camera (probably the only highlight of the phone) assisted with a dual LED flash and autofocus technology. The phone also comes with support for a microSD card which means it gives you ample content storage opportunity.

Nokia is targeting the successful evolution of 3G in China with the TD-SCDMA 3G enabled handset and it is committed to introduce more TD-SCDMA phones in the near future to further boost the 3G standard in China. The 6788 TD-SCDMA is arriving in December though the price is has still not been revealed.

T-Mobile does not have big names like the Storm2 or the Motorola Droid lined up for a release tomorrow but the largest US carrier will release the US version of the Sony Ericsson T707, also known as Sony Ericsson Equinox, this month.

The Equinox comes across as a 3G clamshell option that features a 2.2 inch QVGA internal display and a 3.2MP camera as standard features. GPS, stereo Bluetooth, direct YouTube access and FM radio also make it to the spec sheet of the Equinox. The clamshell will be a glittering handset with special light effects with which you could associate a maximum of five contacts.

T-mobile will offer the Equinox for $50 on a contract for two years which means that the Equinox will be an entry-level 3G handset. To spice up the launch, Sony Ericsson will have its brand ambassador Maria Sharapova present at the opening of a new TMo store in LA on the last day of this month.Win-win situation, eh?

Verizon has a number of happening smart phones lined up for the holiday season release but what comes across as a surprise is that BlackBerry Storm 2 is also a part of this brigade. No one even guessed that it will be as early as October 28 that the Storm2 will be available at Verizon Stores.

The phone that brags of threaded texting and the enhanced SurePress typing with Piezo technology will cost $180 on a contract. As far as the camera on the rear goes, the Storm 2 stations a 3.2 option and other specialities include a highly responsive touch screen and the ability to display orientation in a quick time.

It runs on BlackBerry OS 5.0 and is also blessed with Wi-Fi which collectively means that the Storm 2 is a pretty good package. The problem is the Bold 2 and the Droid (Android 2.0) are also lined up for a release sometime soon which means this is big marketing blunder from Verizon.

The Big Red could have done better by holding back the Storm 2 but since it will be here in a couple of days, all we can do is, acknowledge the fact.

The iPhone finally has a contender and although it was October 28th that the Motorola Droid was supposed to arrive with its full specs, the details have arrived a week before. For starters, the Droid has a 5MP camera with a 4x digital zoom and is assisted by a dual LED flash. Also, the lens adores autofocus and image stabilization technology along with D1 (720 by 480 res video capture).

When it comes to storage, the Droid is as good as a basic HD with a 16GB pre-installed microSD card which can be expanded up to 32GB. Other avant-garde integrations include an accelerometer, aGPS and sGPS support, and proximity and ambient light sensors. Talk about texting, this giant stages a full QWERTY keyboard. For the professionals there is Webkit HTML5 support and Flash 10. Other things that were already known were that runs on Android 2.0 and a 550 MHz Processor.

The one thing missing is MOTOBLUR but that might be something to do with Verizon’s priorities.

Samsung B3310 belongs to the Corby family in India and unlike Europe the strangely designed phone will be dubbed the Corby Mate. It is one phone which will sure find buyers in India given its different design pattern and an affordable price tag (although the price is yet to be revealed).

The Corby Mate features the numeric keys on the left hand side of the screen while the rest of the QWERTY keyboard is on the slider. As far as the display is concerned, the Corby Mate features a 2inch QVGA option. It supports quad-band GSM connectivity and comes with 40GB of internal memory which can of course be enhanced using microSD card.

There is a 2MP camera on the rear which makes the phone handy with other integration like a music player and an FM radio. Social Networking sites and the emails can also be easily accessed through the Cobra Mate which also has an integrated Bluetooth 2.1 device.

The FCC has approved a couple of unannounced Samsung phones and one of them to out delight is the Android based i5700 Spica also known as the Galaxy Lite.

The other model is the SCH-R860 which supports 1700MHz AWS connectivity alongwith CDMA/EV-DO which means it is likely not to go mainstream beyond carriers like Cricket and Metro PCs. The R860 being a touchscreen option could add variety particularly to the Metro PCs lineage which recently added the first Win Mo 6.1 phone to assist professionals.

As far as the Android powered i5700 Spica is concerned, it supports 850/1900 GSM and 850/1900 WCDMA bands, which means if it eventually makes it to the American shores, it will probably be an AT&T handset. The Galaxy Lite features an AMOLED touchscreen display and a 3.2Mp camera. On the connectivity front, it supports WiFi and GPS. More details on both these handsets should be available soon.

T-Mobile has quietly announced a 3G-enabled handset bearing the company’s badge — the Samsung T659. We are clueless about what the name implies and rightfully so as it’s a fairly ordinary phone featuring 3G ability.

The new Samsung T659 comes with basic necessities, such as a 2megapixel camera, support for a microSD card up to 16GB, Bluetooth, AGPS and in-built RSS reader. It comes with a Li-ion battery which is good enough for 5 hours of talk time and 12.5 days of standby time. Picture messaging and Stereo Bluetooth wireless technology are the only highlights other than the 3G capability.

The slider manages to get more speed than it would ever require given the kind of features it comes with. T-Mobile is offering this phone right away for $69.99 on a contract after a $50mail-in-rebate and an instant discount of $80. The discounted price will also fetch a hands free headset.

Last month a detail of the future Verizon phones leaked on the web, and ever since, half the users have been waiting in anticipation for their favorite mobiles to be announced. The Samsung Rogue was also on the list and it was slated for a September 8 release date. However, all that Verizon did was to oblige to the speculations, instead of coming up with something official.

But today, the Samsung Rogue has finally been announced by Verizon. It comes with a 3.1-inch AMOLED display and a 3MP camera on the rear. The camera is blessed with flash and on-board editing software. Regarding the memory, the phone packs 16GB of memories thanks to a microSD card slot.

The Rogue comes with full HTML browsing, includes Microsoft Office Document Viewing, TouchWiz, and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Verizon is offering the phone for $99.99 (after a $100 mail-in-rebate) on a two-year contract.
