It was in September when we first heard that Motorola will be releasing ROKR E8 to the market but it’s just now that it gets official. It’s a musicphone from what I see and Motorola should bring more info about it, tonight at CES. The new ROKR E8 is very good looking with a completely smooth face and without physical keys, but a big nav-wheel in the middle.

Motorola ROKR E8 comes with 2GB of flash storage, a microSD slot if that’s not enough, a microUSB slot, FM radio and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s a Linux-based mobilephone and they say (Moto) it brings great audio quality. More info will come out at CES when they put the lights on it.

Guess you already know that Google is not manufacturing any gPhone but instead they’ve released the Operating System that every open source coder ever desired, right? I got my eyes on it, because the SDK included an emulator and I am ready to give you a few Android UI Screenshots below.

Here are a few things I’ve noticed. I can’t see YouTube or Gmail applications, but it does have a better browser than Windows Mobile, sharp clean graphics and stylish fonts but if you consider that open source is the same with awesome and anyone can design their own applications without the fear of upgrading anything.

One last thing. Did you know you can download the SDK and play with the emulator yourself? Yes, you can go get it.

Google Android is not a Gphone. It’s the Operating System

If you read me on other blogs then I guess you already know I always said there won’t be any G phone cell by Google and I’ve stated my reasons. I was right. Google didn’t have the time to create a device and to be honest I never though this kind of investment would be appropriate because creating the platform for the future that would include all their applications would bring much more money.

Google Android, which is not the Google phone, is the first platform they expect to be truly open and comprehensive, that was developed working with the Open Headset Alliance that include more than 30 mobile manufacturers. So far Motorola and Samsung that were already buying Windows Mobile from Microsoft, LG and HTC agreed to use Google’s Android. But of course it’s not all about producers so I guess you should know that Sprint, T-Mobile, China Mobile or Telefonica already agreed to provide services.

Here are some features:

Linux-based software

no difference between core applications and third party applications because all have the same access level

you can actually make your custom phone to suit your interests with new and innovative applications

will be synchronized with the Internet. For example calendar and contacts could be downloaded from the web

developers have some nice toys: location of the device, connecting it to other devices.

I’m sure we’ll have a lot of buzz the next few weeks or maybe months about the new Google Android OS, which will be a success just like many of Google’s applications.
