Sony Ericsson has literally tormented its fanatics with the release of the XPERIA X2 as it did take a long time coming after a series of teaser videos and images. The good news is that the release date of the XPERIA X2 has been finally confirmed for the fourth quarter of this year.

There were already a lot of speculations regarding the features of this phone and there is not much to choose between them and the confirmed spec sheet. The XPERIA X2 will come with an 8.1 MP camera and a slot for a 4GB microSD card. What the users will adore this time around are 13-pre-loaded panels for the revised Windows Mobile Skin. Each panel is tagged along with a different function right from viewing videos to surfing the web.

Sony Ericsson hasn’t disappointed us with the OS either as the WinMo 6.5 does find a place in this X1 upgrade. Sony is currently in talks with various carriers and we will soon know which carrier eventually sells this worthy smartphone.

The Windows Mobile based Garmin Asus Nuvifone M20 has reached Taiwan after the last month launch of the proprietary OS’d G60. It will be the local carrier Chunghwa that will market the phone which features HSDPA and a 3 Megapixel camera. Another highlight would be the comprehensive navigation capabilities of the phone which earn the model its name.

The phone only weighs 99 grams, comes with a 2.8-inch accelerometer-driven VGA displa that allows users to operate all functions including the digital camera and the GPS on the screen. In contrast to the Garmin Nuvifone G60 that runs on Linux, Garmin Asus M20 comes bundled with Windows Mobile.

Sadly, the iPhone 3GS and the Hero are also slated to hit the Chinese market sometime soon, so competition wise, the Garmin M20 doesn’t have much chances.

You like Verizon’s services and their prices, but you’d like to own a slider? Then maybe you can hold on just a while until the release of the new Samsung U490. Similar with LG Vu and featuring the most basic stuff that you are looking in a mobile, it features a colored LCD display, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, 1GB of internal memory, a microSDHC card slot and the attractive touch-sensitive control pad. Other than these there’s a 3.5mm headset jack and a large speaker.

Lacking EVDO support, although the U490 packs a hidden numeric keypad that slides out, it looks rather generic. So what is so special about this mobile? Maybe the Mobile Web 2.0 browser? Expected to be unveiled at CTIA later this month, Samsung U490 proves tobe a fancy high-end phone with great gadgetry.

For once, it seems that Motorola has set aside its innovative style concepts when it comes to designing mobiles and has set sights on utility and functionality factors. Motorola ZN300 is the new slider phone from the company and the latest addition to Motorola’s lineup comes with a 240×320 LCD display, a 3.1 Megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, features Bluetooth, quad-band GSM and TD-SCDMA.

With a media player that supports almost every format you could think of (AAC, H.263, MP3, MPEG-4, WAV, WMA9, WMA10, AAC+, eAAC+ , AMR NB files), it is the 8MB built-in memory that we’re not happy with. But since, this is aimed at being a complete entertainment center there’s a microSD slot that allows for more

We’ll have to wait for its arrival before we pass the final judgment on the new Motorola ZN300.

The alliance between Garmin and ASUS will kick start at the Mobile World Congress this season and while the partnership already looks very interesting, it will be really worth waiting to see what exactly are they dishing out jointly. The obvious favorites will be the GPS-enabled phones as Garmin already has quite a lot of experience and expertise in the niche.

The first launch by Garmin-ASUS is the Nuvifone G60. It obviously borrows a great deal from the original Nuvifone already in existence, packs 3G and Bluetooth, sports a decent camera along and other basic features. Althought still largely relying on Google Maps, the Nuvifone G60 is not a bad phone – business or not. However, we’re still waiting to see what the giants can come up with …

Many believe that the new Palm Pre by Sprint is the biggest challenger to the supremacy of the iPhone. Although our initial look at the smart handset proved it’s definitively worth giving it a try, the hot question right now is when will Sprint actually let their new baby hit the stores.

While the latest from the inside have it that Sprint could release the Pre into the market as early as March, others are predicting that it will see daylight by the end of the summer – not very smart if you as us. Considering that the Palm 755P is expected to “leave the scene” as late May, the Pre could step in to take its place later than the rumors say.

It’s just a waiting game for the moment.

Riding on the winds of T-mobile and all set to step into the US market, Samsung Memoir SGH-t929 is a touchscreen-integrated mobile phone that seems to pack quite a punch – especially for those who love its photography skills. Apart from the more mandatory, yet highly efficient features of Bluetooth, Assisted GPS navigation, music and movie playback, it is the 8 megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom, the Xenon flash and five shooting modes that really steals the show.

The target is formed, mainly, with people that need their looks to be on the same frequency with their mobile phone, Sony Ericsson is supposed to get the attention with its innovative diamond design. Though it looks so good, expect it to be just as smart.

Sony Ericsson Z555 is a tri-band phone that supports EDGE, GSM and GPRS, comes with changing themes to suit the season or your mood, has a hidden display, a 1.3 megapixel camera and gesture control functions to control your calls.

If you like it and want one the only options are Dusted Rose and Black. I know I do.
