LG GM750 becomes Vodafone Exclusive for Europe

By Alex Ion | Sep 4, 2009

The partnership with Microsoft has really started showing its benefits for LG as its Windows Mobile powered handsets have finally started to be available. A good example is the new LG GM750 that has been announced as an exclusive for Vodafone in Europe.

lg-gm750-winmo-65

LG GM750 is a WinMo 6.5 powered smartphone which is a forbearer of the outgoing GM730 minus the WinMo 6.1. As far as the other features are concerned, there is a 5MP camera on the rear and the S-Class support (from the GM730 territory) also finds a place here.

October 6 is the date when this phone will be launched in six major European countries including Germany, Italy and Spain while the other nations will be soon available after that date.

There are also talks that LG is readying three more WinMo 6.5 OS running phones for this year and ten more next year which seriously augers well for the future of the Korean giant. So is it really going to grille the #2 spot?

There were already a lot of speculations regarding the features of this phone and there is not much to choose between them and the confirmed spec sheet. The XPERIA X2 will come with an 8.1 MP camera and a slot for a 4GB microSD card. What the users will adore this time around are 13-pre-loaded panels for the revised Windows Mobile Skin. Each panel is tagged along with a different function right from viewing videos to surfing the web.

Sony Ericsson hasn’t disappointed us with the OS either as the WinMo 6.5 does find a place in this X1 upgrade. Sony is currently in talks with various carriers and we will soon know which carrier eventually sells this worthy smartphone.

China Mobile gets the LG GW880 Android Phone

By Alex Ion | Sep 1, 2009

Android sure is the buzz word in the world of smartphones and more often than not, most of these Android phones are heading to China Mobile (for some unknown reason). Speaking of China Mobile these guys have their own Android version of Google OS, dubbed the OPhone platform. And speaking of the OPhone platform is exactly what powers the new LG GW880 — the company’s first Android smartphone.

lg-ophone-gw880-android

Expected to release sometime soon as a low cost competitor to Apple’s iPhone, the new LG GW880 comes with a bunch of features that include a 3.5 inch WVGA touchscreen display, has 512 MB ROM/256MB RAM, adds a 5 megapixel camera for accurate images and sports GPS abilities so that you don’t get lost while wandering the streets in Beijing.

The biggest drawback of the new LG GW880 is that it runs on China Mobile’s custom Android platform and that doesn’t come with Wi-Fi connectivity. Hence why the GW880 will come packed with Bluetooth …

FCC approves new Nokia and Motorola Phones for T-Mobile, Nokia 3710a and Motorola T56KV1 Morisson

By Alex Ion | Aug 31, 2009

Although we’re facing with a recession, the folks over at the FCC have just approved a couple of handsets which will soon be hitting shelves in the US. The first one is the Nokia 3710a and the second is probably (not certainly though) the Motorola Morrison.

nokia-3710a-t-mobile

The new Nokia 3710a is derivative of the Nokia 3710 and it comes with a 3.2MP camera on the rear. Talk about the operating system, the Nokia 3710a is based on the Series S40 platform which assures that this isn’t a smartphone, however the highlight of the phone is the concealed external display and the 3G capability.

Second on the list is Motorola Morrison (aka Motorola T56KV1), or at least that’s what people talk about. No word regarding the specs sheet, because Motorola has been well guised. All we know is that it comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G …

Sunno S880 the Dual OS Running Smartphone from China

By Alex Ion | Aug 30, 2009

From dual SIM cards to dual Operating Systems, our modern age smartphones are evolving for sure. Take for instance the latest Sunno S880 smartphone from Sunno — a China based cellphone manufacturer.

sunno-s880-dual-boot-smartphone

The reason this phone manages to charm upon a first glance is that it comes with both Google’s Android OS and Windows Mobile, and can therefore dual-boot between both OS where each of them share the 3.6-inch WVGA Display. The only problem is that it comes with an 806MHz chip of unspecified origin which is not worth accepting for a dual operating system as it should be a high quality one.

Otherwise, the new Sunno S880 is a highly capable smartphone with an 8MP camera on the rear, WiFi and GPS abilities. If you’re looking for a release date, the phone will be available in China from October 15th (no sign of Europe and US though), but if you’d like to know more about its price tag … we don’t have anything yet.

While the Palm Pre has become a heartthrob for millions of people around the globe, the Canadians are still probably waiting to get their hands on Palm Pre, the ever so popular webOS –powered smartphone. And we got some good news. Apparently the Pre has finally arrived in Canada and Bell should be able to sell you one.

bell-palm-pre-smartphone

The Palm Pre will be available for $199.95 on a three-year Bell contract and just in case you do not wish for a commitment that long, you can get an unlocked version for $599.95. Even if you manage to secure an unlocked version you will still need subscription to a data plan that has a minimum bucket of 500MB, therefore it is sensible to blindly sign that contract.

nokia-n97-mini-press-photo-1

The Nokia N97 Mini has been a real tormentor as there have been a number of sources which have revealed the Nokia N97 Mini in some form or the other. The problem is that nothing concrete has been announced from the Finnish giant and although the first press image of the N97 Mini has surfaced, we are still skeptical about its existence and hence doubting that it may be Photoshopped …

Even the smallest detail about the phone is not known except that the Mini is a shrunk version of the N97 and will be much more affordable than its bigger cousin. With the Nokia World 2009 approaching closer, we might know more about this phone if it really exists.

As soon as we have prices, a release date or more details, we’ll let you know.
