It’s actually surprising how long it has taken someone to come out with this in the US. Samsung has announced plans to release the NC215S solar powered laptop in July.
Roku Netflix Player Review
Okay, okay, so it also plays Amazon videos. I went the netflix route however. The box is absolutely tiny and is surprisingly functional. If you want a player that is cheap and easy to use, then the Roku Digital Video Player may be for you.
Uniden DECT3080-3 Dect 6 Phone Review
My last phone system was an AT&T system. It was big and bulky and super non-intuitive. Can you tell that I didn’t like it? I recently grabbed the Uniden Dect3080-3 system and was blown away.
Vizio VO47L 47 inch 1080p LCD TV Review
Well, I have had this TV for a month and I absolutely love it. It’s a 60HZ LCD screen, but honestly, I have a hard time telling the difference. And talk about a value. This thing was a great price – and the quality is pretty amazing. The picture is clear, bright, and color faithful. [...]

Netgear WN311T PCI Wireless N Adapter Review
Well, the DLink DWA-552 performed very poorly in my setup. You can look over my DLink DWA-552 review. So, I decided to go back and get the NETGEAR WN311T RangeMax Next Wireless-N PCI. It has external antenna connection cables that mount to a nice looking antenna box. Let’s see how it faired.

Really Good Wireless Laser Printers
January 7th, 2011
admin It wasn’t that long ago that I wanted to replace my Canon inkjet printer. I looked into the costs of these cartridges and vowed to go to a laser printer. As I was looking, I thought that I should invest in wireless laser printers, not stand alone. We were recently acquiring a new laptop and I figured this would be the most convenient.
That’s what led me to the Brother HL-2170W wireless laser printer. I think I paid $150 at the time, as it was on sale. I love this printer. It is fast (23ppm) and easy to operate. If you use the WPS setup, it’s easy to get this printer working wirelessly. If you don’t do that, hook it up to your router via a wire. Then you can disconnect and go on your merry way. Read the directions carefully and you can’t go wrong. One thing that is a big of a nuisance is the low toner warning. If this happens to you, simply cover the toner level windows with opaque tape. This will allow you to print until the toner is really out. Other than that, I have loved this printer. Toner lasts forever.
The Samsung ML-2525W Mono wireless laser printer is another good bet. It will set you back about $110. It is quiet, does 24ppm, and produces nice prints. Setup is also pretty easy. Just hook the wireless laser printer up to your computer and follow the setup. Once you are done, you are ready to print.
Okay, last one. The HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn wireless laser printer is yet another good choice. For $160 you get a duplex wireless laser printer that can do 26 ppm. Getting it to printer wirelessly is a snap, but toner life length isn’t the greatest. However, if you need a duplexing printer, this is a good one to get. While it rests, it is virtually silent. Printing makes noise, of course, but you will not notice it otherwise.
Linux NAS
January 7th, 2011
admin Network Area Storage (NAS) is going to be an increasingly important thing for home users in the years ahead. The explosion of home media is requiring people to rethink how they store things. A linux NAS gives power users a great way to do this, while retaining the ability to tinker.
A good example is DLink’s DNS-323 linux NAS box. It is a very well priced ($150) linux NAS box that can be hacked and extended. It won’t void the warranty either. You can find lots of users out there that have blazed the trail and done some really cool thing with this box. You can mirror your data in the 2 bay drive for data protection. No, it’s not perfect, but it’s a fun little linux NAS that you can hack on the cheap.
There had been issues with D-Link removing ext3 support. The latest firmware update corrects this issue. Yes, that’s a significant issue for some folks. Speed issues have also been corrected. Yes, it has some cons, but the pros seem to outweigh it for most folks.

Stanford University Creates Sensitive Artificial Skin
September 27th, 2010
admin Zhenan Bao of Stanford University has created very sensitive artificial skin. He need it to “clothe” his Cyberdyne Systems Model 101. Okay, he didn’t really, but when it can detect pressures less than that of a butterfly, I would say that’s impressive. At least Terminator can destroy butterflies when they land on him.
